Current release status

Kill The Shadow is released. The official Steam store page shows Released August 5, 2026 on the news tracker; appdetails on August 25 still returns coming_soon=false and release_date.date="Aug 4, 2026" for Windows PC. Keep both dated Steam values visible rather than merging them. The newest official patch is still the August 14 update (24735134); no newer community announcement appeared in the August 25 RSS/API check.

The launch discount has ended. August 25 US appdetails still lists $16.99 with discount_percent=0. The live store HTML still shows no introductory-offer block and no “Offer ends …” banner. Pages that still said $15.29 / -10% until August 18 are historical.

July 9: August 5 launch announcement

The official news post states that Kill The Shadow launches August 5, 2026. It describes the game as a suspense adventure with RPG elements, a time-rewind mechanic, freely explorable districts and a visual mix of 3D environments with 2D pixel characters.

The official post did not publish a global unlock time or timezone. The current store page now shows the game as Released on August 5, matching the announcement.

May 14: demo Rewind-system update

The developer announced a new demo built around a revamped version of the core Rewind system. The same post also says Phoenix Game would co-publish the game in the Steam China region.

Player impact: older videos or walkthroughs may show a previous form of the rewind mechanic. Use the official Steam demo when learning the historical demo loop, and record the demo build date if reporting an issue. The announcement does not say that demo saves transfer to the full release.

December 4: Chinese dubbing progress

In a developer note, Shadow Light reported that Chinese dubbing had been completed. The post gives a scale of 29 voice actors, more than 100 characters and over 2,000 dialogue lines, covering main and side-story material, and says the Chinese dubbing was added to the Steam demo.

Those numbers describe the developer’s recording work at that point. They do not confirm English or Japanese voice acting, nor do they establish which optional lines are present in every demo or launch build.

What still needs verification

• The live Steam feed may receive further patch notes after update 24735134. The August 23, 2026 recheck still finds no newer official post. The US store is still the $16.99 base with no discount. Older notes of $15.29 / Offer ends August 18 or August 19 are historical.
• Whether demo saves, settings or demo achievements transfer into the full game.
• Any changes to the Rewind system made between the May demo update and the released build.
• Exact release-build case routes, ending conditions and any later balance changes still need first-hand verification.
