Kill The Shadow case walkthrough hub — all known cases so far
Official material teases four investigations in Dark Tide City — a dead puppy named Teddy, the vanished Master Reed, a wharf grudge, and clues found in a prison. Step-by-step solutions can only be verified after the August 4, 2026 release, so this hub tracks confirmed setup only.
Cases officially teased so far
The Steam store page names several mysteries set in Dark Tide City. This is the complete list of what official material has actually shown — nothing here is a solved case yet.
| Case lead | What official material says | Walkthrough status |
|---|---|---|
| Teddy the puppy | A dead puppy named Teddy is one of the store page’s teased mysteries | Not yet verified |
| Master Reed | The store page teases “the vanished Master Reed”; earlier demo coverage described a Master going missing at a temple fair | Not yet verified |
| Wharf grudge | The store page mentions grudges at the wharf; Shipwreck Wharf is a confirmed explorable district | Not yet verified |
| Prison clues | The store page says clues can be found in a prison | Not yet verified |
Demo-era press coverage also mentioned severed limbs found in the sewers among the strange crimes Lucas gets pulled into. That detail comes from coverage of the 2024 demo, not the current store page, so treat it as a likely-but-unconfirmed part of the launch case list.
How an investigation plays out (confirmed systems only)
Official copy describes the loop like this: question witnesses and gather evidence using eloquence, intelligence, the ability to rewind time, or plain violence, then feed what you find into the Deduction System — “gather clues, make connections, and build your own unique path to the truth.”
Two confirmed wrinkles matter for a future walkthrough:
- Your build gates your options. Strength, Spirit and Charm determine which investigative paths open up, per press coverage of the demo — so a single “correct” solution path per case probably will not exist. Start with the beginner guide if you have not picked a stat focus yet.
- Identifying the culprit and exposing them are separate decisions. Press coverage states you can work out the mastermind and still choose not to expose them — see the choices and endings page for what that is confirmed to affect.
Inventory exists too: demo coverage describes permanent items plus consumables that restore stats. Item lists and effects are not yet verified.
The districts you will investigate
The store page confirms semi-open exploration across at least four areas of Dark Tide City: a shuttered factory, Shipwreck Wharf, the Pig Cage Walled City slum, and the Old Town District. Which cases are anchored to which districts has not been officially mapped out, so we are not guessing at routes yet.
A note on names in older coverage
If you cross-reference demo videos or 2024–2025 articles, names will not match the current store page. Earlier localization used Ah’Guang (“G”) as the protagonist in the city of “Darklight”, with NPCs like Captain Wang and Mrs. Ruan. The current store page uses Lucas, Dark Tide City, Captain Theo, Mrs. Reed, and others. It is the same game re-localized. All walkthrough pages on this site will use the current store-page names, with old names noted where it helps you follow older videos.
How this hub fills in after launch
From August 4, 2026, each case gets its own page as we verify it firsthand: objectives, clue locations, stat checks we actually hit, and where approaches diverge. Until a case page exists here, no step-by-step solution for it has been verified by us — anything else you find is based on the demo or speculation.
FAQ
- Does the demo contain the full first case?
- Press coverage says the demo drops you into the game's first mystery and introduces the Shadow, but neither the store page nor the developers have specified exactly how much of that case the demo covers.
- Will full case solutions be here at launch?
- Per-case pages will be added only after we can play and verify each case firsthand from August 4, 2026 onward. We do not pre-write solutions from trailers.
